Playing with texture and a limited pallet. I wanted to create something abstract but that also carried a message. This painting contains several metaphors relating to a very significant event in my brother and sister in law's lives, and in part, my own as well.  Collection of P. Mitchener.

I painted this from photo reference of a tour of the South Island recently. We loved this little coastal town with its French influence in the street names and cafes. The fresh croissants were pretty good too.

Wellington City street  30.5 x 30.5cm

This was painted about a year ago. I decided to rework it and have basically overpainted the whole canvas. I adjusted the perspective, the cars and the texture of the brushwork. I think it is much improved, but you will just have to take my word for that.   sold
